Creative Conversations is a live online series which will feature artists and leaders from the Brisbane art community for a series of discussions about portraiture, possibility and the world around us.

Creative Conversation #3: Digital portraiture and obsession of the selfie: Medium and message.

The digital age has led to the proliferation of the selfie as a means of expression and whilst there are an estimated 93 million selfies taken a day, much disdain is directed towards selfies despite all that they share with art history and self-portraiture.

Join us for our third creative conversation featuring renowned Australian Feminist Art Historian, Louise Mayhew and one of Australia’s most influential and significant photo-media artists, Marian Drew. This conversation will be moderated by Brisbane Portrait Prize Board Member, Rob Hudson.

Creative Conversation #4: Portraiture. National Galleries’ Perspective.

Our national portrait galleries play a profound role in both recording the art of the time, and pushing the boundaries. They help us define contemporary portraiture and are key in promoting artists. But given the global pandemic, how will their role change? If galleries and museums reflect the public mood, how will they look on the other side.
