About the work
As a sufferer of multiple serious allergies, life for me is plagued with anxiety. Brisbane and its surrounds provide me with a natural solace that calms and counter-acts my internal upheaval.
My circular self-portrait depicts my all-consuming battle with anaphylaxis. The placement of native foliage in my artwork is a metaphor of the natural balm of my local suburban surrounds. The family dinnerware reflects my reliance on their support and encouragement. When I am at my Brisbane abode, surrounded by family, I feel most at peace.
