Martin In The Studio by Martin Edge

Martin In The Studio

Martin Edge

About the artwork and sitter

This self portrait shows the artist at work in his studio, with a half finished painting containing the Story Bridge.

“The painting reflects myself in my studio at home where I always end up with paint on me. This is where the magic happens. I paint in my studio every day. My favourite colour orange is on my studio walls and I’m surrounded by the antiques and curios that I collect.”

About the artist

A full time exhibiting artist since 2010, Martin was recently commissioned by QAGOMA to paint a mural for their Motorcycle exhibition. He has been a finalist in several important Australian art prizes, and has been collected by QLD State Library and Parliament House Canberra. He describes himself as a naïve artist who depicts the world around him through his everyday lens. He is also a proud ambassador for autism QLD.
