About the artwork and sitter
Don is the founder of Consolidated Properties Group, one of Australia’s leading development companies. Responsible for some of Brisbane’s most recognisable commercial and residential buildings, Don has successfully shaped the business and Brisbane for over 40 years.
Having been asked to paint Don’s Portrait for his birthday earlier this year and subsequently meeting for several sittings, Zanetti says that his calm and gently spoken manner was extremely welcoming, “as a subject, he let me into his world.”
Capturing him in a relaxed and informal pose, the portrait is set in the very heart of the beautiful home he explicitly created to enhance time spent with his family and friends.
About the artist
Brisbane artist Anne-Marie Zanetti uses her medium as an instrument for experimentation and manipulation of colour, form and light, with the hope of creating paintings that capture the wonder and fascination she experiences throughout the world.
Zanetti’s oil paintings have been included in art prizes and exhibitions nationally and internationally, most recently winning an award in the prestigious 15th International ARC Salon.
