About the work
My artwork features myself, my mother and the wattle blossom. Our family is strongly connected to the area, having been apart of the community for many generations.
My mother went to a Brisbane university in her early 20’s, had her first job here and started her family. I was born at the local Mater Hospital, along with my siblings and have grown up here. The wattle blossom is representative of the bushland in the area, it’s comforting scent reminding us of home.
