About the artwork
Pastels were used to create this monochromatic portrait of the subject as I felt this medium would capture the drama of the pose.

Born in 1967, strongman Rudi Mineur has enjoyed a spectacular circus career performing his final show with Circa in 2015. This portrait shows Rudi making his balancing act look effortless.
About the artist
Kathy Sullivan is a figurative artist who aims to make art that is arresting and quirky. Kathy was inspired to work on this portrait of Rudi Mineur as a show of support for the Creative Industries and their lockdown during Covid 19.
“The message in my painting is for all those in the Creative Industries to stay strong like Rudi. Work hard at what you love, be resilient, take the knocks and never give up.”
Behind the scenes
Born in 1967, strongman Rudi Mineur has enjoyed a spectacular circus career performing his final show with Circa in 2015.
I was drawn to Rudi when I learnt what he was doing to maintain his strength post circus, inventing physical challenges which he would tackle every day.
The message in my painting is for all those in the Creative Industries to stay strong like Rudi. Work hard at what you love, be resilient, take the knocks and never give up.
