About the artwork

My composite image of Eddie D shows him proudly pointing to himself on the cover of a life size Big Issue, highlighting the importance he places on his position as a vendor and Community member. The brightly coloured image, printed on durable Chromalux Aluminium, reflects his cheerful and positive attitude.

Behind the scenes

The Sellers of Big Issue Magazine play an important part in the Australian community. The magazine offers them a quiet but effective way to support themselves, give them self-esteem, while interacting with the public.

Eddie sells the Big Issue at Kelvin Grove, Brisbane. He is an independent, outgoing person who is always positive.

I wanted to capture Eddie’s enthusiasm for his work in a portrait. I pursued a composite image of him both on the cover of a life size magazine and also proudly pointing to his own image. All images were taken in the studio and then combined in post- production. The bright pastel colours highlight his positive attitude to his work and life.

Thank you Eddie.
