About the sitter
Katie Noonan, a five times ARIA winning vocalist, pianist and composer, works across genres and is motivated by the weaving of connections between people and communities. Noonan is a fiercely proud local artist who grew up in Brisbane’s inner north-west and completed her BMus at the Queensland Conservatorium. She has contributed substantially to Brisbane’s Arts and Cultural scene both through her career as a performer and her recent positions as Music Director of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2018 Commonwealth Games and Artistic Director of the Queensland Music Festival 2016-2019. Spin shows Katie’s classical training through a stylistic reference to the Renaissance, while bright geometric Kandinsky-inspired shapes reflect the powerful purity of her voice.
