About the 


The Brisbane Portrait Prize is a new and distinctive cultural offering for Brisbane, with a $50,000 first prize (the Lord Mayor’s Prize), showcasing the best in contemporary portraiture and celebrating the character of the city and those who make it what it is.

This is the first, ever, Brisbane Portrait Prize. See the characters, and the talent, and celebrate this brilliant, new, artistic event. 


Prize money totals $80,000 and categories include Digital, People’s Choice, Performing Arts and Music Industries, and a Prize for Women artists. 


The overall Prize is the Lord Mayor's Prize, supported by the Brisbane City Council.
