Entries for the 2022 Brisbane Portrait Prize now open. We are inviting all artists with a connection to Brisbane join us and be a part of this unique cultural prize.
All entrants will be eligible for the $50,000 Lord Mayor’s Award which is supported by Brisbane City Council. A further $37,000 of category prizes is also available.

We are excited to announce the 2021 Brisbane Portrait Prize finalists.
Once again there are some well known Brisbane identities, alongside many new faces. There are Olympic heroes, family heroes, there are people and their pets. There are depictions of both our beautiful city, and our more private, indoor spaces.
The 71 pieces will be on display at Brisbane Powerhouse from September 29 to October 31.
28 Next Gen Finalists + Highly Commended Works
Following the highly successful Under 18 Prize in 2020, the Brisbane Portrait Prize is proud to again be running a youth prize in 2021.
Newly named the ‘Next Gen‘ prize, the category was open to participants 18 years and under.
This year we are proud to announce 4 Finalists who will be part of the exhibition at Brisbane Powerhouse and 24 Highly Commended pieces which will feature in a Next Gen exhibition at Gadens.
About the prize
The Brisbane Portrait Prize is all about celebrating Brisbane portrait artists and their sitters, while encouraging public engagement with the arts.
Any artist with a connection to Brisbane is eligible to enter. The sitter must also have a connection with Brisbane.
In 2021 $87,000 is available in prizes.
